Origin: South America, north of the Amazon.
Size: two inches
Diet: prepared foods and small live foods.
Water: temperature sevent to seventy eight degrees F; hard (one hundrded to one hundred and fifty mg/l) and alkaline pH seven point five.
Temperament: active and placid, good community fish.
Breeding: one of the easiest to breed, livebearer. Up to 100 offspring. Offspring should be separated from adults as they will be eaten. If a pure line is desired, they should not be mixed with other lines of guppies as they will interbreed. Gestation period 30-35 days.
Gender: males are characterized by their bright colorization and large tail fin. Males have a gonopodium. Females are typically 1 1/3 times as large as males and are drab in color.
